You Are God’s Work of Art
Art, as we value it, only succeeds in reflecting the human condition if it is able to transcend its imperfections. What I mean by this is for example, Raphael still speaks to us about ourselves yet was unable to paint the perfect arm. All good artists, despite their supreme skills and talents, are aware of the imperfections in their work. They do not have to remove these imperfections to create great art - just to be aware of them.
And so it is with the simple, yet sublime, art form we all should (and can) develop: the art of living the “good life”. We just have to take this work of Art created by God and know its imperfections.
It is a simple truth known to the ancient Greeks upon which all art, religion, politics or any set of beliefs or philosophy we may hold must be based, if they are to have any value at all and lead to the “good life” - that is: KNOW YOURSELF.
